Kids Voice Tutor
A Cantonese AI tutor on a compact ESP32 voice device, helping primary pupils with dictation, maths and daily life
A compact voice device built on the ESP32 chip that gives Hong Kong primary pupils a Cantonese-speaking study buddy. The child just talks to it to practise dictation and maths, ask about typhoon signals or the next bus, and take a daily news quiz. Parents set up the device, word lists, grade and tools from a web console.
What it does01
- Runs on a compact ESP32 voice device with a microphone, speaker and Wi-Fi, so the child learns by talking, with no tablet or phone needed
- Reads out the week's dictation words, records results and revisits the ones the child got wrong
- Sets maths questions at the child's grade, checks the answers and tracks progress
- Answers 'Is school suspended?' using live typhoon signals, weather warnings and current weather
- Tells the child when the next bus, MTR train or ferry is due at their saved stops
- Runs a daily current-affairs quiz built from government news headlines
- Lets parents add up to five practice quizzes, reviewed by our team before they go live
- Gives each child their own device and AI profile, which parents set up and pair from the web console

Ad-hoc AI vs our agent workflow04
The same task, done by prompting a general chatbot by hand versus through the agent’s set workflow.
Tokens per task
Right first time
- Word list and grade typed in every session
- Chatbot maths answers are not always right
- The child would need a phone or tablet
Tokens per task
Right first time
- Words and grade come from the parent's saved lists
- Maths answers are checked by code, not guessed
- Missed words are saved and come back for review
No AI is 100% reliable. When a run fails, the agent retries automatically or hands it to a person.

How it works05
- Step 1
The child speaks to the ESP32 voice device
- Step 2
The device streams the voice over Wi-Fi to the cloud AI
- Step 3
The AI picks the right tool and checks the child's lists, grade or live public data
- Step 4
The device speaks a short Cantonese reply
- Step 5
Results are saved for parents to see in the web console
Why it's trustworthy06
- Only the subjects and tools parents switch on are available
- Child-safe prompts and short, age-appropriate replies
- Parent-made quizzes are reviewed before children see them
- Each parent sees and manages only their own child's settings
- A dedicated learning device with no web browser, app store or ads
Good for07
- Parents who want daily dictation and maths practice at home
- Tutoring centres and schools offering a home-learning companion
- Education brands building their own low-cost voice device for Hong Kong families
